Submission Guidelines
Harper’s Magazine will neither consider nor return unsolicited nonfiction manuscripts that have not been preceded by a written
query. Harper’s will consider unsolicited fiction. Unsolicited poetry will not be considered or returned. No queries or manuscripts
will be considered unless they are accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Submissions to the Readings section
are welcome at readings@harpers.organd are encouraged, though volume precludes individual acknowledgment.

Art Internships
Harper’s Magazine is accepting applications from college students and graduates for its art internship program. Art interns
work on a part-time, unpaid basis for three to five months and receive practical experience in electronic page layout, color
separation, art and photo research, working with freelancers, and the general workings of the art department of a national
magazine. Interns are encouraged to generate ideas, view current exhibits at museums and galleries, read widely, and approach
problems creatively. Those interested in the program are invited to download the application as an RTF file, a format readable by most word processors. You may also request that an application be mailed to you by calling

Editorial Internships
