No NIMBY Problem in India on Jailing Terrorists

By Ken Silverstein

From Indian Express:

Mumbai: On June 3, the high-security Arthur Road Jail saw a new superintendent taking charge….[J]ail superintendent Rajendra Dhamne…is responsible for guarding 26/11 gunman Ajmal Kasab, one of the most important prisoners in India in decades.

As a Harper’s editor commented, “You know, there’s something to be said for India’s willingness to house the accused/surviving Bombay attacks gunman in a colonial-era tumbledown jail in the middle of a populous city while Americans are such pussies that many among us balk at the idea of some Pashtun goatherd being sent to 24/7 solitary at a supermax in Podunk, Colorado.”
