I appreciate Roger D. Hodge’s recognition of the need for more pragmatism and less moralism in the Democratic Party [“Creative Destruction,” Notebook, November]. Although he wants to apply it to a hopelessly corrupt and thoroughly unworthy organization, his harkening to the trenchant voice of Joseph Schumpeter in this connection is sound.
